
KrUzer V2 Parawing Tech Talk with Josh Ku: A Surf-Focused Approach to Parawinging
The new Amos Shapes KrUzer V2 Parawing takes the proven KrUzer V2 platform and scales it specifically for parawinging — adding the length and volume needed for efficient starts while retaining the thin, surf-focused feel that defines the KrUzer range.
In our latest Tech Talk, Amos Shapes team rider Josh Ku breaks down the thinking behind the new board, why he is moving away from shorter, thicker parawing shapes, and how the KrUzer V2 platform has been adapted specifically for parawinging.
From Prone Foiling to Parawinging
The development of the KrUzer V2 Parawing started with the prone KrUzer V2.
After spending more time parawinging, Josh saw the potential to take the same mid-length concept he was already riding for prone foiling and adapt it to a higher-volume parawing platform.
Rather than starting with a traditional wing board and modifying it for parawinging, the goal was to retain as much of the surf-oriented KrUzer V2 feel as possible.
We started from the prone KrUzer V2 and made targeted modifications for parawinging, and it worked amazingly on the first go.

Why Go Longer for Parawinging?
One of the key design decisions was maintaining the longer mid-length outline.
For Josh, the additional length of the KrUzer V2 helps the board get up quickly and release from the water. As power comes into the parawing, the longer shape helps bring the board onto the surface, allowing the rider to pump through the final stage of takeoff.
A fuller nose adds volume through the front half of the board to improve planing efficiency and stability, rather than relying on a shorter, wider and thicker shape to achieve the required volume.
Keeping the Board Thin
While the Parawing carries more volume than the prone KrUzer V2, maintaining a thin profile was an important part of the design.
Josh wanted the board to retain the direct feel of his prone board once on foil, rather than feeling like a larger wing or SUP-style platform.
This is central to the way he approaches parawinging. The parawing gets him out to the wind line and onto foil, but once it is packed away, the focus shifts back to surfing the bumps and ocean energy.
The aim was therefore to build enough board to make the parawing side work efficiently, without losing the surf-focused feel once flying.

Josh's 65 L Setup
At approximately 80 kg, Josh's main board is the 5'11" 65 L KrUzer V2 Parawing.
At that volume, the board sits slightly below the surface when stationary. This allows Josh to manoeuvre and position the board downwind or across the wind while waiting for a gust, rather than having the board simply follow the direction the parawing is pulling.
Once the power arrives, the board comes onto the surface and Josh can quickly pump onto foil.
He uses the 65 L across most of his East Coast Australian conditions, generally from around 10 knots upwards.
In stronger wind, smaller boards can work. On a recent trip to Hawaii, Josh used a 40 L prone KrUzer V2 in 20+ knot conditions. For his everyday parawinging, however, the 65 L gives him the additional volume and security he wants across a wider range of conditions.
Three Sizes: 65 L, 75 L and 85 L
The KrUzer V2 Parawing is available in three sizes:
5'11" x 20" x 4 1/8" — 65 L
6'2" x 20 7/8" x 4 3/8" — 75 L
6'5" x 21 1/2" x 4 9/16" — 85 L
The range carries the same design concept across different rider weights and volume requirements, from approximately 70 kg through to riders around 100–110 kg.
Choosing the right volume will depend on rider weight, ability and typical wind strength.

Parawing First, but Built for More
Although developed specifically for parawinging, the KrUzer V2 Parawing can also be set up for winging.
Footstrap insert options allow Josh to ride the board strapped, including for jumps and more performance-oriented wing sessions.
The board also incorporates Amos Shapes' Enhanced Connection Window (ECW) and can be ridden with Foil Drive and other foil assist systems.
Foil Tec moulded EVA traction, Foil Tec tracks, a leash plug and Gore-Tex air vent complete the build.
The KrUzer Platform, Reworked for Parawinging
The KrUzer V2 Parawing takes the characteristics that have made the KrUzer V2 such a successful prone platform and adapts them specifically for parawinging.
Additional length, increased volume and a fuller nose help with getting up and flying, while the thin profile retains the responsive, surf-oriented feel Josh wanted once on foil.
For Josh, that's ultimately what the board is about: getting out to the wind line, packing the parawing away and surfing.
