Kruzer V2 RTS Tech Talk with Josh Ku

The Kruzer V2 RTS is our updated mid-length platform for Foil Drive and other electric assist systems, combining the performance of the Kruzer V2 with our redesigned Recessed Track System (RTS).

In this Tech Talk, Amos Shapes Team Rider Josh Ku takes a closer look at the V2 RTS and, importantly, how the larger Foil Drive Fusion fits within the new system.

 

A Longer, Wider RTS

One of the key changes from the original Kruzer RTS is the size of the recessed track system.

The V2 RTS is wider, providing enough clearance to unclip and change the battery without undoing the mast base plate screws in most setups. We have also extended the recess so you can change batteries without taking off the mast for the max and slim unit.  For the Fusion you will still have to remove/ shift the mast back if you run the unit close to the front of the tracks.

 

Why We Made Two RTS Options

For the Kruzer V2 RTS, we wanted riders to be able to choose how much of the Foil Drive system is recessed into the board without forcing everyone onto the same board thickness and volume.

The result is two versions: Pro RTS and Regular RTS.

The Pro RTS uses a 1" half trench, with the battery sitting slightly proud of the base of the board. By reducing the depth of the recess, we can keep the overall board thinner and lower in volume. This creates a lighter, more nimble board with a more direct connection to the foil and a more surf-driven feel.

The Regular RTS uses a 2" full trench, allowing the battery to sit flush with the base of the board. The additional thickness required for the deeper trench also creates more volume through the board, providing greater stability and easier starts. It's the more user-friendly option for riders who prioritise stability and ease of use.

Both versions use the same wider RTS concept and retain the mid-length characteristics of the Kruzer V2. The difference is simply where you want the balance between board thickness, volume, stability and responsiveness.

 

Finding the Right Mast Position

Rather than changing your mast position to suit the Foil Drive, Josh recommends starting with the position where your foil already works.

Set the board up without the Foil Drive, find your preferred mast position and mark it on the tracks. From there, install the Foil Drive around that position.

In the video, Josh uses this method to compare where the Foil Drive Max and Fusion sit within the RTS, giving a clear indication of the additional space required by the Fusion.

Designed for Current and Future Foil Drive Systems

The Kruzer V2 RTS is compatible with Foil Drive Fusion, Max and Slim, as well as other electric assist systems, and incorporates our Enhanced Connection Window (ECW) for reliable Bluetooth connectivity.

Working with Amos Shapes and Foil Drive allows Josh to test new equipment before it reaches the market and identify changes that need to be made at board level.

As Josh explains, the aim is to make sure our boards continue to accommodate new Foil Drive systems as the technology develops, rather than having existing board designs quickly become obsolete.
